Well, we’ve only gone and done it!
This team has something special about it and I know that this will only grow with time. We hope that one day @sandscharity will roll out teams up and down the country so all men can become part of the family that I am now proud to be part of. This team has given me something to focus on, a purpose, a goal and something to aim for.
Every time I wear my shirt I play for my daughter. By being around other dads and seeing their pain and their struggles has shown me that it’s ok not to be ok. It’s ok to have those ‘bad days’, it’s ok to be cross and angry at the world and at life, it’s ok to feel hopeless and worthless, it’s ok to feel depressed, it’s ok to hate yourself because you think that you should have done more and you feel guilty for letting your partner down.. all of these things are OK!
But what’s not ok, is that we feel the need to hold all of these emotions inside through fear of becoming weak and through fear of failure. It’s not ok that there are dads out there who cry in silence when nobody is looking because they feel embarrassed or ashamed. It’s not ok that we don’t know how to express our emotions or simply talk to our partners or another person about our true feelings. None of these things are ok. So it’s time that we #starttalking
@sandscharity @changingmindsproject and of course @hanearby you have helped me through some of my darkest days. Thank you for being there for me. I am now part of @sandsunited and we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.
